Desiccated Coconut

Desiccated coconut is the dried, shredded white kernel of mature coconut. It is a clean, versatile, shelf-stable ingredient used across bakery, confectionery, dairy and snack manufacturing. Silk Chains supplies it multi-origin, so buyers get continuity of supply and price optionality: when one crop or origin tightens, we move to another while holding the same specification.

How it is graded

Grade is defined by grain size. Fine is suited to bakery fillings, confectionery coatings and fine inclusions where a smooth, even texture matters. Medium gives more visible flake for toppings, snack inclusions and general food manufacturing. Coarse and custom cuts can be sourced on request. All grades are dried to a moisture maximum of 3 percent, run at roughly 65 percent fat, and are supplied SO2-free and preservative-free.

Choosing an origin

We source from Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia. Origins differ subtly in grain, colour and price character. Sri Lankan supply is prized for its bright white colour and can be drawn through the wider group’s Ceylon sourcing and manufacturing network. The Philippines offers scale and consistency, Vietnam adds competitive optionality, and Indonesia backs both desiccated coconut and the full coconut-oil range. We match the origin to your spec and commercial target rather than forcing a single source.

Packing and logistics

Standard packing is 25 kg multiwall paper bags, palletised or floor-loaded to a full container load. We confirm loadability, lead time and documentation up front, and ship worldwide on FOB, CFR or CIF terms with clean paperwork.
